Cabot Lodge - All inclusive luxury retreat.

Breidi and Brad, along with their family, have the most incredible luxury lodge in the heart of Fiordland.

Not only is this a top pick for honeymooners, but they also host beautiful weddings on site, including their own. We discuss all things lodge life with Breidi and what we can expect in the future for Cabot Lodge.

Tell us a little bit about Cabot lodge and your journey into the luxury accommodation sector?

Cabot Lodge is a luxury lodge set in the heart of Fiordland, two-hours from Queenstown Airport. The Lodge is based on my families sheep, deer and cattle station, surrounded by the stunning Cathedral Peak mountain range, Fiordland National Park, and overlooking Lake Manapouri.

The Lodge can accommodate a maximum of ten guests. Each suite has lake and mountain views, with floor to ceiling windows, open fireplaces, clawfoot bathtubs and private outdoor courtyards.

My husband Brad and I are the owner operators of the Lodge. We quit our corporate careers to move back to the family farm and set up the Lodge almost six years ago. We absolutely love connecting with, and taking care of our guests and have no desire to return to city living!

Our guests are pampered from the moment of their arrival, with welcome drinks, a dip in the Lodge spa pool, private hiking trails, on-farm activities, nightly cocktail hour and canapes, and of course beautiful farm to plate cuisine.

Wedding trend's you would love to see at your lodge and any trends you're happy to see the back of?

We love mountain-top ceremonies! Watching helicopters arrive at the Lodge and whisk couples and their loved ones up into the mountains is always so exciting. Once the formalities are done, and couples have captured spectacular shots over waterfalls, on snowy peaks, and looking down over the fiords, they can return to the Lodge and let the drinks and dancing begin.

I am hoping that the alpaca wedding trend is over. We have had far too many alpacas, and even pet sheep, create chaos during weddings. The photos are adorable. The reality of following them around and cleaning up after them is not!

Career highlight so far and goals you’re striving towards?

Being named in the top 2% of hotels globally on Trip Advisor was really special. Our goals this year are focused on expanding our guest experiences - building a spa/treatment room, getting E- Bikes for guests to enjoy, private fishing from our jetty, and so much more!

What does a typical Saturday morning look like for you?

Brad is at the Lodge preparing breakfast for our guests, while I am making sure our two sons are fed, as well as our chickens, horses, and dogs! If all of our guests are checked- out of the Lodge, we always try to head out for an adventure. No point living in paradise if you don't get out and explore it!
